Required to attend to the individual needs of residents and to monitor them during the day or night.This role can be emotionally demanding, due to the challenging behaviour of clients, cases of terminal illness and when residents die. May need to provide support to relatives.

  • Must be able to perform a varied range of tasks including spending time with residents (both at the unit and on external trips) to build relationships, shopping, acting as a key holder and maintaining a standard of cleanliness in residents rooms including labelling of personal clothes and tidying cupboards/drawers.
  • Must be able to maintain records of residents care needs, advise senior staff of any issues concerning the welfare of residents and liaise with residents relatives and senior staff.
  • Must also assist in maintaining individual standards of hygiene in accordance with clients wishes to maintain personal dignity.
  • Will also be required to undertake appropriate activities with clients e.g. gardening, cookery etc.
  • The role will require physical effort moving residents and the daily collection of foul linen.
  • Must have patience and good communication skills, must be trained or willing to train in the use of moving/handling equipment e.g. hoists, glide sheets.

Required to use professional knowledge to assess, monitor and review social care needs of individuals, relatives and carers and to arrange the provision of appropriate care services. The work involves a significant amount of admin (50%), can be stressful, requires lone working, often involves driving and may involve coping with aggressive behaviour.

  • Must have significant knowledge, experience and specialist communication skills to gather information and make a full assessment of the risks, protection and social care needs of individuals, carers and families.
  • Must be capable of devising individual care plans based on needs and risks and take appropriate action, in conjunction with other agencies, to protect vulnerable people.
  • Required to manage an agreed case load, offer support and guidance and monitor, review and reassess care packages/services to ensure continued effectiveness.
  • Must be able to use paper and computerised case recording systems, produce reports and capture and analyse information.
  • Some knowledge of care benefits, fees and allowances would be helpful.
  • Must hold a Social Work or other professional qualification relevant to the role eg DipSW, CQSW, DipOT, Community/District Nurse and be registered with a relevant professional body.
  • Must be able to assess risks, needs and information, and recognise problems.
  • Must understand philosophies, professional social work issues and the legal framework underpinning care services.
  • Must be computer literate and have basic numeracy skills. Must be able to fulfil transport requirements.
  • Must possess good communication skills with ability to negotiate with services users.

This is a full time post for a Senior and it is essential that the candidates have the PQCCA qualification and experience of supervising other Social Workers and Family Support Staff. Part-Time candidates will be considered.

Support Worker - Adult - URGENTLY REQUIRED!!

MUST hold a valid enhanced CRB.

The job requires the post holder to use concentrated sensory attention for a period of 1/2 hours in order provide support and care to service users. The post holder is required to concentrate for a period of up to one hour in order to complete care plan records.

This role involves the jobholder maintaining a daily caring relationship with service users that have mental and physical needs. The role provides personal care to a range of service users. There will be periodic requirements far manual handling e.g. assisting service users to walk, moving service users between wheelchair and chair etc. You may need to act as an escort to service users, including escorting them on holiday.

  • Ability to interpret information, such as service complaints, and then redirect them to the appropriate person to provide quick and accurate resolution.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills in order to provide clear and concise advice and guidance to a range of customers.
  • Clear, concise basic literacy and numeracy skills in order to record and document activities in the care plan.
  • Able to deal appropriately with challenging behaviour from service users and/or their families and maintain a sympathetic and understanding attitude towards them.
  • Able to build relationships with people from a wide variety of cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Ability to work as part of a team completing shared tasks in order to deliver a service to others.
  • Dexterity and/or co-ordination skills necessary to provide personal care, operate equipment and demonstrate activities.
  • Able to encourage and support people to do things for themselves.
